Rusaifa Land Fill

This is actually a sad story. Massive landfill, equally massive biodigester and electricity generator. Could collect large amounts of Methane (21x more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas) from the garbage or imported organic waste and burn it to make electricity. Current electricity production-zero.



That's the landfill out there. Should be covered in plastic to keep the Methane from escaping, but it is too expensive to employ guards to keep it from being stolen.

The sludge from the digesting that is going on is also not being used. It should be used as compost, but currently it is full of heavy metals and pathogens from the slaughterhouse down the road. Enough to make you a vegetarian? Just about did it for me.
